I am facing a very unusual problem with the YOM 2001 Mk3 Mondeo Auto Transmission car (2 ltr petrol). As I speak, the gear selector is stuck at N. It does not move from N to R or P. But it DOES move from N to D, 2 and 1 and back to N as usual, while the car is started. Selector sequence is P-R-N-D-3-2-1.
I bought the second-hand 2011 Modeo TDXi with the 6 speed PowerShift with 82,000kms on the clock in December 2014. About July 2015, about 90,000km's on the clock, when I would cruise at about 80-100kph, maintaining a steady speed, I would notice that the RPM's would oscillate a couple of hundred rpm up and down. Shifting into second gear disengages the first clutch, engages the second clutch, and engages the gear cogs of third gear. PowerShift’s lightning fast, seamless gear changes make driving smoother while saving fuel and lowering CO2 emissions compared with a normal automatic.
