PSA: Mercenary contracts are permanent. Currently the game treats mercenary contracts the same as vassalage. It never expires and you get a -20 relation hit with all lords if you cancel it. Just putting this here for people who don't know yet. I wanted to try fighting for the different factions as a mercenary to try out the different cultures It is either a bug, or a feature (I'm not sure on either) where OFTEN, the faction leader, or their number 2 in charge (Monchug, mesui example..) can't be Immediately ransomed. You can just go to tavern and ransom everyone. But can't do it individually. They also have no ARROW, to assign them to YOUR dungeon (or push to the sell side in tavern). Equipping a Standard Or Banner. To equip a Standard or Banner in Mount and Blade Bannerlord: Hold left-click and drag the Banner into your empty Banner slot. Xbox users use the A button. In the current version of Bannerlord (e1.0.5) mercenary contracts do not expire and choosing to end the contract penalizes you as though you had ended vassalage. This really bugged me since I always found working as a mercenary to be a great way to build up to starting my own kingdom. I got
As far as i can tell, The game thinks merc contracts are the same as joining that faction as a lord. A bug i seriously hope gets fixed soon as it really ruins allot of the game play, having people hate you just because you left them when they ran out of wars to fight.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a medieval action RPG strategy game in which the player creates and leads their kingdom. In the game, the player needs to recruit other lords and clans to their kingdom. The game is challenging when it comes to building a kingdom alone, but with other clans’ help, it’s easier to conquer the whole of Calradia. There is no penalty hit when you do so. The contract never expires or needs to be renewed. At the initial talk when you ask to be a mercenary you are told how much pay you will get. When you battle the realms enemies you gain influence, the influence is then converted to denars at regular intervals.

Dam, that is a shame. I wish you could pay for a set amount of time. It's really annoying that they can leave whenever they want.
Ask for leave you can no longer leave the party for a 2 day period at 0 cost. I found this to be quite unrealistic. To terminate the contract early, you must now bribe the commander. Unlike abandoning the party, this will not cause any criminal rating, relations loss and reputation loss with the faction you are serving. ieHk.
